Back in Summer 2014, Gina from ladygoats.com built this awesome outdoor bench with arbor. Plans were design by Ana White, which are really easy to follow.

What you will need: 4 – 4×4 posts @ 84″ (legs) 4 – 2×4 @ 21″ (side supports) 2 – 2×4 @ 91″ (bottom seat front/back aprons) 4 – 2×6 @ 91″ (top lower rafters) 7 – 2×4 @ 48″ (top upper rafters) 4 – 2×4 @ 28″ (seat supports) 2 – 2×4 @ 60″ (back support framing) 5 – 2×4 @ 15-1/2″ (back support framing) 7 – 1×6 (or 2×6) @ 60″ (seat boards) 6 – 2×4 @ 33″ (side shelves) NOTE: Recommend exterior screws – 2 inch screws, 2 1/2 inch screws, 2-1/2″ Pocket Hole Screws.

TOOLS: measuring tape, square, pencil, safety glasses, hearing protection, Kreg Jig, Drill, Circular Saw, Jigsaw, Random Orbital Sander, Countersink Drill Bit. Sure, you could plop a couple of deck chairs in your backyard for an impromptu sitting area. But a hand-built bench, framed by an arbor, gives you a more permanent place to kick back as the weather warms up, and adds an elegant architectural feature.
