DIY Rain Barrel for Kids

If you want to save money on your water bill, provide your plants with clean water, and teach kids to conserve natural resources then this rain barrel will be perfect for your home! A rain barrel is a way to catch and store rainwater as it flows from the roof. The water is then saved in the rain barrels and can be used for watering flowers, gardens and lawns all through the summer, even in times of drought. You can even wash your cars or windows with it!
Make sure your rain barrel has a mosquito screen under the lid to keep mosquitoes and other insects out! Prevent mosquitoes by keeping your rain barrel lid tightly closed. During the rainy season, remove any water that may collect on top of the barrel. Mosquitoes need at least 4 days of standing water to develop as larva.
