How to Clean a Chicken Coop
Although Chickens are pretty hard creatures and will adapt to almost any situation, it cannot be stated enough that owners should ensure their Chicken Coops are kept clean. Looking after your chicken housing is important for the health and well being of your birds. No corner, nook or cranny should be left uncleaned, these are the places which become havens for parasites you don’t need, certainly the Chickens don’t!
Twice a year you should do a really good, deep coop clean. Scrub down the whole coop with a white vinegar/water solution once right before the weather turns cold and then again in the spring. Fresh, new straw bedding can go down and you can toss in some fresh or dried herbs for added health benefits and aromatherapy. General clean of the coop is usually 1-2 weeks, depending on the need and the weather. The entire process can take about 15 minutes start to finish.
