How To Grow Potatoes In Towers
If you want to grow potatoes in your garden but you are limited by space, then here is an ingenious trick to get you started! A potato tower is an excellent solution. Ranging from two to four feet high, these simple vertical gardens are constructed of a cylinder of metal fencing lined with straw and filled with soil. Simple to build, they also produce a high yield.
The project in the above photo is using different materials but grown with the same basic idea. These are made with reed screening wrapped around tomato cages (to give them shape) and then secured to the ground with rebar stakes. It saves space by getting the crop to grow up rather than sprawling out in the ground.
