How to Make a Pebble Mosaic
If you want to create patterns using stones that are specific colors and sizes, divide them into separate containers. Wetting rocks is the best way to see their colors and striations. Large plastic nursery pots work well for the sorting and wetting. You can always practice on a small project like a stepping stone to get the hang of the technique before working up to more ambitious projects like a patio or path. Big projects require a lot of pebbles as you can imagine!!
For this project you’ll need:
- Wheelbarrow
- Hoe or shovel
- Garden hose and spray nozzle
- Mortar mix, 60# or 80# bags
- Crushed gravel
- For straight paths: 2×6 lumber and stakes. For curved paths: plastic lawn edging or bender board and stakes
- Pebbles
- Whisk broom and wire brush
- Dust mask
- Rubber gloves
- Muriatic acid and rags (optional)
River stones and pebbles work really well for these projects, but just about any stone can work as long as you can think of a cool design with it and turn it into a stable path! Click the link below to get the full tutorial….
