New Year’s Resolutions for Kids
Parents may make resolutions to save more money, stop smoking or lose weight in the New Year, but what commitments can children make? Turns out, there are plenty of age-appropriate targets kids can set to build skills and habits that’ll serve them well into adulthood. Putting new year’s resolutions in writing and hanging them in a prominent place, like the refrigerator or family organization board, can help remind you and your child to stay focused on his or her goals.
Make sure you praise your child’s effort, as we all know, sometimes despite admirable effort we can fall short of our goals. Teach your children to re-set a goal and keep going. Invite them to discuss what they’ve learned through the process. Reward and acknowledge their effort with a favorite family activity or outing, and let them know you support them no matter what. They can be fun, painless, and are sure to benefit your entire household. Check out how Christy’s children over at harvardhomemaker.com make their resolutions in their house, click the link below….
